    First Aid - Basic First Aid Life Support

    The course will cover scene safety and approach, assessing basic life support functions (DRABC), recovery position, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillation (AED), choking and controlling minor and major bleeds.

    Required Skills
    A sense of humour, class participation, willingness to learn.
    Teaching Method
    Group practical work, one to one, question and answer.
    You should gain the practical ability to control an emergency situation.
    Materials required
    Please wear loose comfortable trousers as this is a practical course. You will need to bring a pen and paper if you want to take notes. Tea and coffee are provided free of charge but in order to avoid waste we are asking learners to bring their own re-usable coffee cups if possible.
    Homework required
    At the start of the course you will be given your own individual learning plan. Your tutor will record your entry level and together you will track your progress and achievements.
    Progression to
    We will support learners to make informed choices about their next steps by providing appropriate individual and/or group information, advice, and/or guidance tailored to need and desired outcomes. We offer a 2½ hour Baby and Child First Aid workshop. Your tutor can advise you on the one-day Ofqual accredited Emergency First Aid in the Workplace course.
