    English For Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
    Description

    SPECIAL PRICE £20 – conditions apply, please ask for details.  A friendly, informal class for those whose first language is not English. These sessions will cover a range of topics to help navigate everyday life; from first introductions and meeting people to holding conversations and communicating at work. Whether you are a beginner or already have a basic understanding you will work to improve on all areas of the language; speaking, listening, reading and writing. Most importantly the course will enable you to progress onto higher level accredited courses.

    Required Skills
    Be prepared to try to join in with activities and class discussion.
    Teaching Method
    Group work, practical activities, class discussion, games, question and answer activities.
    Outcomes
    Learners will improve speaking and listening, reading and writing skills.
    Materials required
    Pen, paper and a dictionary. Handouts will be provided.
    Homework required
    Practice at home and in everyday situations is advisable.
    Assessment
    At the start of the course you will be given your own individual learning plan. Your tutor will record your entry level and together you will track your progress and achievements.
    Progression to
    We will support learners to make informed choices about their next steps by providing appropriate individual and/or group information, advice, and/or guidance tailored to need and desired outcomes. This course allows you to gain new skills and is an identified progression route into accredited provision such as Functional Skills, GCSE English or employment. This course can prepare you for The International English Language Testing System Life Skills Exam (IELTS) - an English test for people who need to prove their English speaking and listening ability as part of a visa or immigration application.
