These sessions will cover a range of topics to help navigate everyday life; from first introductions and meeting people to holding conversations and communicating at work. Whether you are a beginner or already have a basic understanding you will work to improve on all areas of the language; speaking, listening, reading and writing. Most importantly the course will enable you to progress onto higher level accredited courses.
English For Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
Be prepared to try to join in with activities and class discussion.
Group work, practical activities, class discussion, games, question and answer activities.
Learners will improve speaking and listening, reading and writing skills.
Pen, paper and a dictionary. Handouts will be provided.
Practice at home and in everyday situations is advisable.
At the start of the course you will be given your own individual learning plan. Your tutor will record your entry level and together you will track your progress and achievements.
We will support learners to make informed choices about their next steps by providing appropriate individual and/or group information, advice, and/or guidance tailored to need and desired outcomes. This course allows you to gain new skills and is an identified progression route into accredited provision such as Functional Skills, GCSE English or employment. This course can prepare you for The International English Language Testing System Life Skills Exam (IELTS) - an English test for people who need to prove their English speaking and listening ability as part of a visa or immigration application.
