Art: Watercolour - Plants and Flowers Through the Seasons
This course will give you an introduction to painting and drawing flowers, fruit and natural objects in graphite and watercolour.
We will cover:
Perspective for flowers and leaves
Shading and tonal work
Wet in wet and drybrush techniques
An interest in flowers, painting and drawing.
You will learn how to draw and paint simple flowers and fruit in watercolour and make a simple botanical study.
Please do not buy a lot of materials until you have been to the first class - your tutor will advise you on what equipment to buy. Can you please just bring a HB and 2b pencil, rubber, sketchbook A4 size cartridge paper (medium to heavy weight, off white/white, suitable for light wash), plus any basic watercolour materials you might already have. A tabletop easel would be an advantage and can be sourced for approximately £15.00. A starting cost is likely to be a minimum of £40, plus easel if required.
Paper for the painting will be available to buy from your tutor.
You are welcome to bring subjects from your own garden, as the course progresses.
Practise at home is always useful.
At the start of the course you will be given your own individual learning plan. Your tutor will record your entry level and together you will track your progress and achievements.
We will support learners to make informed choices about their next steps by providing appropriate individual and/or group information, advice, and/or guidance tailored to need and desired outcomes.
Learners may have the opportunity to visit The Society of Botanical Artists Annual Open Exhibition in London and the Cambridge Botanical Gardens. Further courses here could include Watercolour Landscapes or Watercolour - Mixed Ability Courses. Check out all our courses at www.aclearning.org.uk
