Course Cookery: Quick and Healthy Chinese NEW

This course is for anybody who wants to learn how to cook authentic, healthy and delicious Chinese food themselves. You will learn the skills and techniques to make Chinese food that is characteristic of different regions. Dishes taught during this term will include
• Stir-fried chicken in Black bean sauce
• Egg fried rice
• Stir-fried pork fillet in Yellow bean sauce
• Simply pancakes
• Green tea flavoured king prawns
• Fish fragrant chicken strips
• Mongolia lamb cooked in stir-fried method
• Stir-fried noodles

Required Skills This course is suitable for learners of all abilities, you just need a passion for cooking healthy and delicious food.
Teaching Method You will receive an introductory talk and explanation to give you some background to the cuisine, followed by step-by-step demonstration of the dishes. You will then prepare the dishes yourself with one-to-one help from your tutor as required. Recipe hand-outs will be provided.
Outcomes You will have gained the skills and knowledge to cook basic Chinese cuisine.
Materials required An ingredients list will be sent out before the first lesson. Basic equipment is provided in the school kitchens but in addition you will need to bring a tea towel, dish cloth or kitchen roll and containers to transport your food home in.
Homework required You will need to shop for ingredients in advance. However, should the course not run due to circumstances beyond our control we will not be able to take responsibility for the cost of those ingredients.
Assessment At the start of the course you will be given your own individual learning plan. Your tutor will record your entry level and together you will track your progress and achievements.
Progression to We will support learners to make informed choices about their next steps by providing appropriate individual and/or group information, advice, and/or guidance tailored to need and desired outcomes.
