Course Beekeeping - Beginners
Description

This weekend course is intended for prospective beekeepers. Students will learn about setting up an apiary and caring for a colony of bees, with topics looking at the life of the European honey bee, the various pests and diseases that affect them, and the methods of extracting honey from the comb and the production of other saleable hive products. In addition to the two days of classroom based learning you will also participate in a practical session off site where you will handle a colony of bees. Please note that the practical hive session will take place a couple of months after the course, when the weather is warmer and the bees are active.
