Course Tax: Self Assessment for the Self-Employed

You will learn how to register and file a tax return, what to include on a tax return; allowances, personal allowances, income, expenses, expenses which are not allowable etc, income tax rate bands, accounting years versus tax years, when to pay your tax liability, what records you should keep and how to keep them, and more.

Required Skills Accuracy and a confident understanding of basic maths.
Teaching Method Presentation, group work, discussion, informal quiz, etc.
Outcomes You will have a basic understanding of tax law and returns and when you should consider enlisting the assistance of an accountant.
Materials required A calculator, notepad and pen. Please bring a packed lunch. Tea and coffee are provided free of charge but in order to avoid waste we are asking learners to bring their own re-usable coffee cups if possible.

Assessment At the start of the course you will be given your own individual learning plan. Your tutor will record your entry level and together you will track your progress and achievements as you complete practical activities throughout the session.
