Course Cookery: Classic Indian Delights NEW
Description

Indian food with its aromatic spices and richly exotic flavours has an appeal that has reached all over the world. You will prepare classic ‘Real Indian Food’ using all natural ingredients. You will gain confidence to use the spices to suit your taste, preparing dishes such as hyderabad biriyani, masaledar channa (a lentil dish), some delicious snacks and raitas (yogurt dishes) as well as authentic Indian breads.

Required Skills No experience needed, just keen to learn how to prepare tasty, spicy Indian food.
Teaching Method You will receive an introductory talk and explanation to give you some background to the cuisine, followed by step-by-step demonstration of the dishes, then you will prepare the dishes yourself with one-to-one help from your tutor as required. Recipe hand-outs will be provided.
Outcomes You will be able to prepare Indian food with confidence, to entertain family and friends.
Materials required An ingredients list will be sent out for the day, and you can expect to spend approximately £10 - £15. Basic equipment is provided in the school kitchens, but you may like to use your own for familiarity. You will need to bring a tea towel, dish cloths and containers to transport your food home in, and a packed lunch. Tea and coffee are provided free of charge but in order to avoid waste we are asking learners to bring their own re-usable coffee cups if possible.
Homework required You will need to shop for ingredients in advance. However, should the course not run due to circumstances beyond our control, we will not be able to take responsibility for the cost of those ingredients.
Assessment At the start of the course you will be given your own individual learning plan. Your tutor will record your entry level and together you will track your progress and achievements.
Progression to We will support learners to make informed choices about their next steps by providing appropriate individual and/or group information, advice, and/or guidance tailored to need and desired outcomes.
