Course Flowers: Fresh Flowers for Spring
Description

Create a simple stunning floral spring design each week on this short course. Learn how to include spring bulb flowers and spring blossom in a floral arrangement and gain tips on how to care for your creations to prolong their life. Projects include spring daffodil topiary, spring vase with secret support, spring votive design with aluminium wire, spring twiggy contemporary design and spring Valentine’s arrangement.

PLEASE NOTE THERE WILL BE NO CLASS ON THURSDAY 7TH FEBRUARY OR THURSDAY 21ST FEBRUARY. CLASS DATES WILL BE; 17TH JAN, 24TH JAN, 31ST JAN, 14TH FEB & 28TH FEB.

Required Skills No skills needed, just a love of flowers! Suitable for complete beginners and those wanting to put existing skills into practice and learn new ideas.
Teaching Method Your experienced tutor will demonstrate and then offer one to one advice with discussion so that you can successfully complete each floral design
Outcomes On successful completion of this course, you will be able to arrange spring flowers for the house, for a party or as gifts for friends.
Materials required Please bring strong scissors, a bin bag, pen and paper. Flowers are provided for you at week one. You will need to source your own flowers and foliage for subsequent weeks although your tutor will have certain plant materials available at reasonable cost. Expect to pay around £8 - £10 a week for fresh materials although if you have a garden or ready source of foliage this may be less. A starter pack of basic equipment (pots, floral foam, tape etc) is available from the tutor for £12, please order at week one. Floristry scissors can also be ordered at £8 each.
Homework required No homework except sourcing flowers for the next week. Sometimes the tutor will suggest a web site for optional extra information on a topic. Flower photos are posted on the Verdila flowers facebook page (www.facebook.com/verdilaflowers) which learners can refer to during the week
Assessment At the start of the course you will be given your own individual learning plan. Your tutor will record your entry level and together you will track your progress and achievements.
Progression to There are a number of flower arranging courses and workshops to choose from including; Special Occasion Spring Blooms and Fresh Flowers for Summer. We will support learners to make informed choices about their next steps by providing appropriate individual and/or group information, advice, and/or guidance tailored to need and desired outcomes.
