Course Cookery: Breadmaking - Beginners

Ditch those shop bought loaves and learn to make delicious speciality breads of your very own! Join us to make and take home freshly baked soda bread, a Mediterranean bread plait with olives, sundried tomatoes and mozzarella and sticky Chelsea buns.

Required Skills No specific skills or qualifications are required to join the course.
Teaching Method Discussion and step-by-step demonstration. You will then prepare the recipes yourself with one-to-one help from your tutor as required. Recipe hand-outs will be provided.
Outcomes You will have the knowledge and confidence to bake speciality breads in your own kitchen and will have some delicious bread to take home with you on the day.
Materials required An ingredients and equipment list will be sent out before the workshop. Basic equipment is provided in the school kitchens, but you may like to use your own for familiarity. You will also need to bring a tea towel, dish cloths, an apron and containers to transport your food home in. You may wish to bring a packed lunch. Tea and coffee are provided free of charge but in order to avoid waste we are asking learners to bring their own re-usable coffee cups if possible.
Homework required You will need to shop for ingredients in advance. However, should the course not run due to circumstances beyond our control, we will not be able to take responsibility for the cost of those ingredients.
Assessment At the start of the course you will be given your own individual learning plan. Your tutor will record your entry level and together you will track your progress and achievements.
