Course Yoga

The sessions will include a variety of yoga postures and different postures will be featured throughout each term. Each session will start with gentle preparation postures followed by main postures and will include a relaxation session. All postures can be modified (or substituted) to suit the individual – you do not have to be able to touch your toes to stretch your hamstrings. However, those who can easily touch their toes can be given modifications so that the hamstrings are stretched. Each learner will be encouraged to work within his/her own ability.

Required Skills No skills or previous experience required. This class is not suitable for those who are pregnant.
Teaching Method Demonstration and talk through.
Outcomes By the end of the course you should be able to recognise and perform a variety of yoga postures. You should be aware of your own abilities, strengths and limitations and be able to apply these to any yoga postures, not just those covered in this course. You should also be able to use relaxation techniques and simple yoga postures that are suitable for relaxation.
Materials required Yoga mat, loose comfortable clothing and warm clothes for relaxation.
Homework required There is no required practice outside of class.
Assessment At the start of the course you will be given your own individual learning plan. Your tutor will record your entry level and together you will track your progress and achievements.
