Fees Policy and Charges
Fees for short courses (10 weeks or less) should be paid in full at enrolment. Fees for long courses (13 weeks or more) can be paid in full at enrolment or as 50% at enrolment and 50% via a cheque dated the first Monday following the next half term break. Please see Refunds/Cancellations below, and note that joining the course and paying by instalments does mean that you are fully committed to meeting the entire course cost and your postdated cheque will be cashed even if you no longer attend the course.
The price includes tuition, a non-refundable administration fee of £7.50 per person for each transaction and the examination/assessment charges if applicable. This means that just one administration fee will be charged regardless of how many courses you book per person at the same time. If you think you may have difficulty paying then please talk to us as we may be able to help via the Learner Support Fund.
Learners undertaking courses are entitled to concessionary fees where certain conditions apply. Evidence will be required in order to claim these concessions. If the right to a concessionary fee changes during the course, we shall reimburse learners on a pro rata/termly basis. The administration fee and examination fees are fixed and cannot be reimbursed.
On most qualification courses we offer concessionary rates, with no charge for tuition, to the following:
- 16-18 year olds (conditions apply)
- unemployed people in receipt of Jobseeker's Allowance
- those in receipt of income based benefits (the main income-based benefits are Council Tax Benefit, Housing Benefit, Income Support, Working Tax Credit* and Guarantee Credit as a part of the Pensions** Credit)
- the unwaged dependants (as defined by the Benefits Agency) of those listed above
- those taking programmes where the learning aim is basic skills
- certain asylum seekers
- St Ivo staff will be charged half tuition fee, plus the administration charge and any assessment fee unless they are entitled to other concessions
- Learners eligible for the Level 2 entitlement
On non qualification courses we offer approximately 20% discount on tuition fees for those listed below:
- unemployed people in receipt of Jobseeker's Allowance
- those in receipt of income based benefits (the main income-based benefits are Council Tax Benefit, Housing Benefit, Income Support, Working Tax Credit* and Guarantee Credit as a part of the Pensions** Credit)
- the unwaged dependants (as defined by the Benefits Agency) of those listed above
- those taking programmes where the learning aim is basic skills
- certain asylum seekers
- St Ivo pupils aged 16-18
- St Ivo staff will be charged half tuition fee, plus the administration charge unless they are entitled to other concessions
* Concessionary rates are applicable to those in receipt of Working Tax Credit, or their partner, and with a household income of less than £15,626 as detailed on the award notice TC602. Information and guidance about tax credits is available on 0845 300 3900.
** Concessionary rates are applicable to those people aged over 60 who, as part of their Pensions Credit, receive Guarantee Credit (those who receive Savings Credit alone are not entitled to a concession). The Award Notice details how the award is made up, in the ‘Your Pension Credit’ section.
There is no age related concession for people aged over 60 on any of our courses. Full details are available within our Policies and Procedures booklet.
Refunds/Cancellation
We only give refunds where we cancel or substantially alter a course. If space permits, a course transfer will be considered favourably. Classes with fewer than the minimum number of learners may have the option of continuing on payment of a supplementary fee. Please ask if you would like a full copy of the Refunds/Cancellation policy.
