We often have openings for tutors to teach "adult education" courses. Generally we are looking for either a level 3 (A level equivalent) subject specific qualification or a teaching qualification. We always require that people have a good grasp of their subject area and are the sort of person who can help others to learn.

We are able to offer introductory training to people who wish to teach with us but do not have formal teaching qualifications so potential is nearly as important to us as a proven past history. It is important to stress, however, that part time teaching is becoming increasingly professionalized and prospective tutors will find that there is a good deal more to the job than popping in each week and passing on some interesting information.

Whilst we hope that this website will make it possible for us to recruit to courses throughout the year there is no doubt that we are looking for most people around April, May and June in preparation for the courses which start with us in September. Courses which start after Christmas or after Easter have less chance of success simply because people are less used to starting with us then.

If you might be interested in tutoring for us or if you think you could be involved with Adult and Community Learning in any way please contact us. The worst we can do is turn you down and the best we can hope is that everyone in the community gains!
