Equal Opportunities/Disability Discrimination Act

We are committed to promoting Equal Opportunities in our activities, procedures and employment practice. We believe that everyone is entitled to learn in an environment that is free from discriminatory behaviour so that we build a community based on mutual trust and respect. We will ensure that resources and equipment are accessible to all and make reasonable adjustments to ensure that all can access activities. Our policies and procedures booklet, available from the office, includes sections on Equal Opportunities, Race Equality, Disability, Behaviour etc all aimed at promoting equality, equity and fairness. As part of our commitment to equality, and to comply with the provisions of the Disability Discrimination Act we offer confidential interviews to discuss the particular learning needs of individuals.

Examinations

Learners should check assessment/exam dates at the commencement of their course, and are reminded that they will need to bring proof of identity to examinations. Arrangements for resits are included in the Examinations Policy, details are available from the office.

Complaints Procedure

If you are unhappy with any aspect of our service, in the first instance you should talk to your tutor or the Adult and Community Learning administrators. Please ask if you would like to see a full copy of the Complaints Procedure.

Insurance

The Local Education Authority, the School, Adult and Community Learning and anyone acting on their behalf cannot accept liability for loss or accidents other than those covered by Public Liability Insurance. Property, including cars and bicycles brought on to our property, is not generally covered by that insurance. Learners are advised to make their own arrangements if they require insurance cover against accident or loss where no question of negligence arises.

Car Parking

Car parking is available at St Ivo School, limited during the day and on parents’ evenings. A disabled space is available by the main entrance. It is also possible to park in the Recreation Centre car park which is only a few metres walk from the school site.
